Cubist Poetry

Gertrude Stein was close friends with Picasso (this is a portrait of her that he painted).  She is a very important poet and her poetry is considered Cubist in nature.  Her repetitive phrases breaks up the space and timing of traditional poetry (and speaking), much like Picasso did with his paintings.

This is one of her most well known poems;

If I Told Him- A Completed Portrait of Picasso

This is her reading it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8cSXVNn92s
